Practical Guide

Tarot: what are they thinking about you?

When you cannot stop wondering what is going on in their head, a draw will not open their mind — but it will show you yours. That is usually where the real answer sits.

Before you draw

Three Steps to Center Before Drawing

01

Settle in

Take a quiet moment, relax your shoulders, and let the noise fade.

02

Hold your question

Focus on what you genuinely care about. Ask how to respond rather than predicting an outcome.

03

Look at the card

Take in the colors and gestures for a few seconds before reading the explanation.

What this question is really asking

"What are they thinking about me" is rarely about their thoughts. It is about your uncertainty — the gap between how they act and how you feel. The cards work on your side of that gap: what you notice, what you fear, what you hope.

On Arcana, pick a spread in the drawing room, flip each card, then open the card's page for its full upright and reversed meaning.

Cards that often appear here

The Moon names uncertainty and projection — seeing shapes in the fog. The High Priestess points to what your intuition already knows but you have not said out loud. Page of Cups is tentative feeling, Two of Cups mutual recognition, and The Lovers the choice underneath it all.

A better way to ask

Instead of "what do they think of me", try "what am I reading into their behaviour" or "what do I actually want from this connection". The first question asks the cards to spy on someone; the second asks them to show you yourself — and only the second one works.

If a card stings when you flip it, that reaction is information. The card did not create the feeling; it just gave it a name.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can tarot tell me what someone is thinking?

No. Nobody's thoughts are readable through cards. What a draw can do is clarify your own perception of the relationship — which is usually what the question is really about.

Why do I keep drawing cards about this person?

Because the question is still open for you. Draw once, sit with it, and ask what the cards surfaced in you rather than what they say about them.

Which spread fits this question?

One card for a quick mirror, three cards (past – present – future) to see how your read on the relationship has shifted over time.
